Terra Trevor, of Cherokee, Delaware, Seneca ancestry, frequently writes on the topics of motherhood, culture, ethnicity, her identity as a mixed blood, as well as the experience of raising a child with a life-threatening illness and the process of healing from the death of a child. She is hailed for her insight, candor, lyric prose and sincere voice.

Terra's memoir, Pushing up the Sky: A Mother's Story, is widely anthologized with excerpts included in Birthed from Scorched Hearts: Women Respond to War, MariJo Moore (Editor) Fulcrum Publishing, and Children of the Dragonfly: Native American Voices on Child Custody and Education, the first anthology to document the struggle for Native American cultural survival on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border. As a member of the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers & Storytellers, Terra volunteers in the mentoring core where she helps beginning and emerging Native writers refine their skills.

In addition to writing, Terra has worked as a project coordinator for American Indian Health & Services, Red Ribbon Bridge — a program offering spiritual and cultural connection for Native Americans living with AIDS — and as a coordinator and volunteer for We Can, Pediatric Brain Tumor Network, Friends Of Korea Family Exchange Program, and Santa Barbara County American Indian Education Project.
