Terra Trevor, of Cherokee, Delaware, Seneca ancestry, frequently writes on the topics of motherhood, transracial adoption, culture, ethnicity, her identity as a mixed blood, as well as the experience of raising a child with a life-threatening illness and the process of healing from the death of a child. She is hailed for her insight, candor, lyric prose and sincere voice.

Terra's memoir, Pushing up the Sky: A Mother's Story, published by KAAN, is widely anthologized with excerpts included in Birthed from Scorched Hearts: Women Respond to War, MariJo Moore (Editor) Fulcrum Publishing, and Children of the Dragonfly: Native American Voices on Child Custody and Education, the first anthology to document the struggle for Native American cultural survival on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border. Robert Bensen (Editor) The University of Arizona Press.
